Cellulite is a network of fat cells that are bound by the fibers found beneath a person’s skin which causes the surface of the skin to dimple or pucker, like the surface of an orange. This has become a serious aesthetic problem for women all over the world and ways of losing cellulite are sought continually because as women age the issue gets worse. The causes of cellulite are many as are the ways and therapies used for losing cellulite but none of them guarantee that it won’t return if you do not observe certain habits.

Cellulite is more usual on females than males mainly due to the way muscle, connective tissue and fat are distributed in the skin, and as far as females are concerned those regions are the thighs, rear and tummy. This is because females by and large have a higher amount of fatty tissue than men.

This storage of fat is aided by the female hormone estrogen as additional fat is necessary by the woman during menstruation, pregnancy and when breast milk is needed. There are other reasons for cellulite including being fat, but this is not a direct cause although it can make it worse. Pregnancy is another reason because a woman’s body experiences changes like the elevated fatty deposits, weight gain and water retention.

Losing cellulite using a reduced calorie, high fiber diet, is now thought by many medical specialists to be about the best way to lose cellulite as long as it is mixed with plenty of physical exercise. One simple cellulite treatment is the use of a tanning bed because the darker the skin the less noticeable the cellulite is.

Where cellulite is a hormonal issue, and probably the most common cause so losing cellulite through diet and exercise may not be sufficient. All the same, there are other cellulite treatments you can use such as massaging the affected specific areas, water therapy to flush the system, creams that burn the cellulite and of course giving up cigarettes.

For those individuals who are serious about losing cellulite a technique called liposuction can be used where small incisions are made in the skin and the cellulite is literally sucked out of the muscles. This suction breaks through the deposited fatty tissues, massages the affected area with rollers attached and the connective fibers that hold fats, until the toxins and water are expelled.

Even so, this cellulite treatment is expensive and not a something every woman wants to experience. Although cellulite is not an illness or medical condition it can be a sign of an unhealthy lifestyle in the individual affected. So once the cause of cellulite has been ascertained in a person then it should be easy to figure out what cellulite treatment will be the most effective in losing cellulite permanently.
