Many higher education students worry about how they will be able to afford health care. The HCTC, allows the parents to get a tax break when coverage the cost of a students medical, but this does not help all individuals. One solution could possible be a higher tax credit and the idea of a personal health savings account for these students. Most larger universities also offer health coverage plans to their students.

A misconception out there is that many of the clinicians who work at a university clinic are either rookies in the health care profession or otherwise don’t know what they are talking about. The truth is that many of these physicians are qualified and have seen all kinds of situations that prepare them and give them the necessary experience to provide the best possible health care they can while on campus.

Some students prefer the private sector to the universities clinics. If this is the case there are insurance companies that will provide you with coverage, if you meet their criteria; you must be self employed, have a solid work history and be in fairly good health. The problem with this is that most self employed individuals find it hard to set time aside to research the proper health coverage.

When you add the school work load on top of a self employed individuals responsibilities, this is an even greater issue. Many students are so over worded that they do not get proper sleep and continue to put off a doctors visit. This can be dangerous if a true medical issue is involved and not caught in time.

The health industry is aware of this and are trying to make the process of finding a plan less time consuming. They want plans that are for students that are not only self employed but that work part time as well.
